Mentoring & Marketing Training Program for Agricultural & Animal Livestock Informatisation Projects in Haibei Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province

In July 2018, Rainblue Studio delivered a mentoring & marketing training program for China Telecom Qinghai Branch on Agricultural & Animal Livestock Informatisation Projects.

At present, most of the small and medium-sized dairy farms in Qinghai Province rely on traditional manual observation to obtain information on the management of dairy cattle. It is difficult to monitor individual cow behaviour in real time which means it is extremely easy to miss the cow’s estrus and optimum insemination time, greatly reducing milk production and consequently affecting economic benefits.

As the representative of a new generation in the field of information technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) is an important foundation for the digital transformation of dairy farming in China.

The application of IoT to monitor and collect actionable data effectively increases the milk yield of dairy cows and enhances the profitability and productivity of livestock industries in China.

As the leading comprehensive intelligent information service operator in China, China Telecom has developed “Little Shepherd Boy”, a cloud-based cow estrus monitoring system to ease the pain points of China’s livestock industry. The system uses NB-IoT communications. It is not only for cows, but is also applicable to beef mills, dairy companies, animal husbandry cooperatives and other applications. The application of this system has greatly increased milk production and the number of calves, reduced the feeding & labor cost and medical treatment as well, comprehensively improving the cows breeding environment, and greatly increasing the income for herders and dairy farmers.

During this program, we (RainBlue) focused on guiding the marketing and service team of China Telecom Haibeizhou Branch through procedures that included how to integrate resources of local banks, insurance, government, farms and pastures; how to utilize the information technology products to assist herders, governments and financial institutions to work more efficiently. Both in the classroom and on site, our coaches put a huge effort into teaching students how to diagnose problems for their clients and advise professional solutions to address these problems.
